[TN-Bird] Re: hummers MIA

Not MIA at my house! As usual, they show up, get scarce during May, I think
because so many wild things they like are blooming and then numbers boomed 3 or
4 weeks ago, I think because the first youngsters are showing up off the nest.
I'm going through several pounds of sugar a week.

BTW, I make a 1 part sugar to 2 parts water solution, closer to their preferred
flowers nectar concentration. Might make a difference.

I think we have had more this spring and early summer than normal. I saw at
least 2 come to the feeder late yesterday and one early this morning. A month
ago I was also saying I thought we had more this year. Like an earlier post,
just anecdotal but I believe and hope we have more this year. We have
essentially the same feeders and flowers this year as the last few years.

Subject: [TN-Bird] hummers MIA

I have fed hummingbirds in this location for perhaps 25 years. This year I
have almost no hummers. Despite the usual flowers that normally attract
hordes of hungry hummers (say that fast 3 times), rose of sharon, bee balm,
cannas, the hummers aren't here. My neighbor across the street who formerly
fed them hasn't fed for a couple years due to deteriorating health so
they're not partying over there. What's up with this?
