[TN-Bird] kudos to Wallace

I just wanted to take a minute and thank Wallace for the great
job he does with the TN-bird email list. I think we get spoilled
at times and take for granted how well-run this list is.

I was in western New York last week on business and planned in
some time to go birding. So I subscribed to the local email
list in advance to stake out places to look for things like
Northern Shrike, White-winged Crossbill, Hoary Redpoll,
Glaucous Gull, etc.

Don't get me wrong. I met some of the nicest, most helpful
folks up there in Rochester. And, when asked, they supplied
great information. There were lots of email posts with
sightings of my target birds. But it's the little things
that stood out. There were a lot of posts that said things
like:

"The such-and-such bird was seen at the usual spot."
"We had such-and-such bird at the Owl Woods."
"Saw such-and-such at the pinetum."

What the heck is a 'pinetum'? 'Owl Woods'? Sounds like a
great place to go... where is it? 'The usual spot'? Are
you kidding me?

So, Wallace, the next time you send a nasty-gram because someone
didn't give the exact location a bird was seen or when a bird
was seen, ... thanks in advance.

And for the record, the Pinetum is apparently like an arboretum
of evergreens... I got White-winged Crossbills there.
