2 May 2005 Kingsport Great Blue Heron: 2 newly built nests with birds on them, at the island just below Netherland Inn (these were not there during winter). Black-cr. Night-Heron: 5 below Ft. Henry Dam & 4 below Boone Dam (no evidence of nesting, but I'd bet they are nearby). Yellow-cr. Night-Heron: 8 occupied nests on the greenbelt at Am. Way (others may have been hidden behind foliage). Osprey - 2 Bald Eagle - 1 ad. - at confluence of N / S forks of Holston River. Red-shld. Hawk: 1 ad. at nest (Am. Way). swallows: 1500+ on river -- mostly Barns, but lots of Tree, Cliff, & Rough-wg., plus 10+ Bank.
