I've always wondered about this. Why do rails respond to hand claps? (I've
never actually tried it myself.) As far as I know, none of them have a call
that sounds like hand claps (except maybe King & Clapper, but even that's a bit
of a stretch).

These called a few times in response to a couple of loud hand-claps at
Meadowview golf course. Virginia's have wintered at this site previously.
Sora at exactly same spot where one was heard in early Dec.
