A good shower just passed through west Knoxville and brought some nice shorebirds with it to the retention pond outside my office window. 2 Lesser Yellowlegs 2 Pectoral Sandpipers 1 Solitary Sandpiper in that order. All circled but apparently kept going without landing. 1-3 Spotted Sandpipers have been present daily since 16 July. The Great Egret numbers peaked at 3 on 22 July which is also the last day I saw them. And 2 Yellow Warblers have been working the redbuds the last couple of days as well. Other local notes, I had an E Wood-Pewee in the yard this morning. And it looks like the Barn Swallow roost at the Food City retention pond on Middlebrook Pike may be back this year... I had about 50 birds there around 8:30PM a few days ago.
