Great to hear that others have observed this phenomana. My observation was from my yard in October at least three years ago. It was awesome!!!. The robins seemed to leave in wide huge waves from the woods behind my house around mid-morning and were going southward. Thousands of them for it lasted and lasted. Wave after wave. There were a few blackbirds and starlings in the group and it was interesting that their movement was often more south southwest. While I watched for a long time.. it was just too disconcerting to know for exactly how long.
