The Wildflower Pilgrimage (put on by the UT Botany Dept and a host of GSMNP- and Gatlinburg-related organizations) is looking for someone to lead a birding motorcade to Newfound Gap on Saturday, April 27. Lodging at Arrowmont and meals are provided. I have been doing the Cades Cove motorcade for 6 years, and the participants are typically Midwesterners with moderate or worse birding skills. Their expectations are modest, and anyone comfortable IDing the usual warblers and songbirds would be capable of leading the trip. They want you to spot the birds and point at them and say what they are. Anything beyond that is icing. It's a fun time among an interesting and appreciative crowd. 8 people are registered, so it will be a very manageable group. If you are available and interested, contact me or Dr. Gene Wofford at bewofford@xxxxxxx Thank you.
