Ran home for lunch today (20 Nov 2002) and had several kettles of Turkey Vultures migrating directly over the house along the ridgeline within about 30 minutes from 1:00 to 1:30pm. Didn't count the first kettle but there were about 8 birds, exactly 8 in the second, 30 in the third and 4 in the fourth. I had a fifth kettle of 4 birds as I was driving out of the neighborhood on my way back to work. Each time I got really excited when the first big bird came flying over. I've been hoping for a flock of Sandhills. On a follow-up to yesterday's post, I got my first Brown Creeper of the season this morning.
