Hi Golan,

It's been a 'long-time' since I ran my BBS (portal) in the M1 Network. My BBS was called T.G.N.S. (an acronym for The Gay News Service), that was a substantial system in itself and a portal to relay e-mail from systems that originated in Burlington and went as far as Ajax. I had one of the largest systems, due to the number of drives I had and the use of the Buss-Card.

I did in fact have a SFD-1001 but I used (I'm pretty certain) an 8250 dual-drive that I purchased from a company I worked for at that time. My BBS had almost 5Megs of storage space and, was free (with restricted areas) but was very popular due to our huge message area's and large amounts of available disc space. Hence why I have 'hundreds' of games and applications, that I will soon put to market.

Back in those days, to keep costs low, every BBS operator had to be within 'local calling distance' and 'all' the messages were transferred at 'pre-determined' hours, other-wise, you'd crash another's system!

Dave's work on creating the network protocols at that time was fantastic. He was 'way' ahead of his time! Networking, at that time was still a privilege of banks and the military. He gave us, the blood and guts to make the Internet happen.

They were fun days, always full of crashes and de-bugging! We, we're the ones who made the Internet possible.

Mark

I have a 'moded' C-64 Dark-Beige, that was modified (alternative ROM), by
Dave Mason (whom founded the M1 BBS system way back when) for sale.

Dave Mason aka Vid aka Nos? If you don't mind my asking, which BBS did you run?

I used the p/s with the C-64, 3-1581 drives, 2-2041? drives (the 1Meg floppy drives) and an 8052 dual drive. The buss-card sucked back a lot of power.

The 1MB floppy disk drives are the SFD-1001 and the dual drive version
which came in the same chassis as the 4040 (2 x 170k) and 8050 (2 x
500k) was the 8250.

I noticed that my full e-mail adress gets 'hidden' on the list, so you'll
have to figure out, how to get in touch with me?

Your email address is coming through no problem.
