Hey Steve,
I'd have to look at those again and see how big the basic rom is since
its been a while. There may even be dumps of it online that could be
examined. An alternative could be a bank switched cartridge, there are
plenty that used those providing 16k. I know the Atari 8bits had a few
that fit in more than 16k.

8k and commodore wanted to save some money. BASIC4 on the PET takes
about 12K and BASIC3.5 on the Plus 4 probably about the same, but it
would be nice to see. I was able to fit the TED screen editing into
the C64 kernal by removing the tape routines, much like JiffyDOS does.
