Those brittle pins...yes, they are pesky...I get a very strong socket with what
I call shark tooth pins, and with great care, outside of the machine in good
lighting, install the 6502 socket into the other socket and go with that...I
suspect they never thought that there would be much swapping and plugging and
unplugging of the cable...but things happen...they do!

I actually removed the SuperPET board and made it a normal 8032 then diagnosed
from there to fix a normal PET. Then when that was fixed, I added the SuperPET
board and started troubleshooting again as a SuperPET. You might want to take
that angle instead of swapping boards.

Sounds like you have a good offer once it is safe to head to the basement...of
course, reseat all the chips, and be very aware that the cable that connects
the upper and lower board has very fragile pins...I always put the 6502
connector into another very robust socket to avoid bending or breaking any
pins...

works fine.
