I used to heat up an awl and use this to melt a hole through 720k 3.5" floppy cases to add extra hole & format them at 1.44mb
I used this technique for hundreds of floppies.
It worked okay.

Is that even possible with the 3.5"s? I assumed the media was
different densities or something.
