We've been told by the Heron Point managers that they are no longer
renting out their meeting space to outside, weekend visitors like us,
so we won't be able to return to the familiar meeting rooms next year.
This has nothing to do with anything we've done. The hotel and Heron
Point are now owned by separate companies, and so the mission of the
Heron Point owners is different now and they're not interested in
attracting more business to the hotel. The hotel, for its part, has no
real meeting space of its own.
The ECCC/VCF braintrust will put our heads together and see what we
can do to preserve the things we like about the current event and
improve if possible.
