Hi JohnMight have tried that if I still had them. But the dealer who was supposedly going to exchange them then told me the manufacture would no longer produce them and failed to either return the ribbons or my money. Definately not an acceptable situation. That being the main reason for my post so nobody else gets burned.

Did you try spraying WD40 into the ribbon cartridge? Always worked for me ... dissolves the dried ink and makes it useable again. Else, dob the ribbon with inkpad refill ink. But its very far from the truth these days. Case in point try getting an MPS801 ribbon, you'll end up with one of the ribbons I'd got stuck with and it won't work. They aren't producing any more of these either as I've been the only person to buy one in over a year! Brian Lyons wrote:I have never had any problems with Ko Rec Type ribbons. Many of you will remember me asking about printer ribbons being available quite a few months ago. I got the suggestion to try Ko Rec Type which I did. Lately I've had an outrageous amount of trouble with them. I'd ordered a pair of MPS-801 ribbons from them through a local retailer in Port Hope called Randalls stationary (also in cobourg and trenton). Well the ribbons they sent weren't new, they were old used dried out ribbons dating back to 1999. I took them back to Randalls to exchange them which Randalls at first did but the ribbons were simply resealed in the packaging and sent back to me again with the old dry ribbons. After much going back and forth including my last trip to Randalls less than an hour ago, I was lied to repeatedly then the store clerk said he'd give me a refund. But having made the mistake of not bringing my receipt back with me this time he again lied and tried to refund me less than $5 each for the ribbons ($10 for both) when they'd charged me $27 for them in the first place. Being as this clerk, who I now refer to as a cluck was the same person who put the sale through in the first place. I'm not sure how many here would ever use their older printers much but if anyone does don't waste your time & money on Ko Rec Type. No point them ripping anyone else off. I'm looking for alternative sources if there is any. If so I'll post the results here.
