for the story on finally finding these cartridges.

Perhaps interestingly, there are some Ontario connections with this: the company behind the dig, Fuel Industries, is based in Ottawa. The CEO grew up here in Thunder Bay and in the mid/late '80s he was starting to become another Commodore buddy of mine when he suddenly announced he was selling his Commodore 128 to buy an electric guitar. To me, this was pure madness! I'm glad he found his way back to his geek roots and he's apparently done very well with his business.

By the way, though the media is presenting the dig as an urban legend that's surprisingly true, my friend Marty Goldberg (who I frequently see at the Commodore show in Chicago each fall) did a bunch of research in his recent book "Atari Inc.: Business is Fun" that predicted this outcome; they even had some of the old Atari staff present at the dig and they basically were pointing out where to dig to the excavators. The only surprise to them is how good shape everything is still in after 30 years.

Robin.
