Sounds good to me except that a "Commmodore" timeline should mean not only 8 bit but "all" Commodore computers - ie Amiga, MS-DOS (and the 900 if it can be found).

And to take it to the next logical step - if a timeline is to have a beginning then the start would be typewriters, calculators, watches and maybe some furniture thrown in.

The next question is - where would it all go?

news is that I'm planning a 'history of Commodore' exhibit for the WoC
2009 with a variety of less often seen Commodore machines (PET 2001,
SuperPET, B-series, C65 etc.) so that visitors can get some hands-on
time with machines they might not otherwise ever see up close.

I've been thinking along the same lines. I would love to see one
entire wall of the show devoted to a Commodore computers timeline.

i.e. start with a KIM on one end...with a working model of every
Commodore machine ever made (including rare/prototype ones) along the
wall on tables, in chronological order, with a small poster above each
one explaining what it is. At the other end it would conclude with a
64DTV.

We could debate whether to keep it 8-bit or to include Amigas/PC clones.

Does this line up with your idea?
