VA Birders,
On Sunday morning, Aug. 22, I had a noisy flock of about 40 American
Crows at Fort C.F. Smith Park, Arlington. This is the most crows I have seen
in
some time. At first I thought the might be mobbing a raptor, but that did not
appear to be the case. Since they came thru after the cold front, I wondered
if they might be migrants from farther north. (They moved on fairly quickly
and I did not see them again.)
Other birds and migrants of interest Sunday morning were 2 Ospreys, up to
6 Red-shouldered Hawks, 2 Red-tailed Hawks, 1 Chestnut-sided and 1
Black-and-White Warbler (the Chestnut-sided came and bathed in the Bird
Stream), and 1
Orchard and 1 Baltimore Oriole. My total for the morning was 36 species.
