VA BIRDers,

A sunset visit to Dyke Marsh Saturday produced a Lesser Black-backed Gull on
the Hunting Creek mudflats and a Merlin on a tree near the Golf Course along
GW Parkway.

My Sunday sunset walk into Huntley Meadows produced a calling Virginia Rail
from the NW portion of the boardwalk loop.

I also visited the Great Marsh area Sunday near noon and the waterfowl
diversity was getting good with C. Goose, Tundra Swan (92), Gadwall,
American Wigeon, Am. Black Duck, Mallard, No. Shoveler, No. Pintail,
Green-winged Teal, Canvasback, Redhead, Ring-necked Duck, Lesser Scaup,
Bufflehead, Hooded Merganser, Common Merganser, Red-breasted Merganser,
Ruddy Duck, and Pied-billed Grebe noted in admittedly less than desirable
viewing conditions due to the wind.  Also of note were 2 adult Bald Eagles
copulating.
