Following is the count from Sunday's ASNV-sponsored bird walk along 1.7 miles
of Buttermilk Creek Trail, during which 5 participants identified 36 species.
From the standpoint of sheer numbers, the Bird of the Day was our friend the
American Robin. Noteworthy avian sightings, though, included several hawks, a
couple of Hermit Thrush, Kingfishers, and an Eastern Towhee.
The next ASNV-sponsored bird walk is scheduled to take place on March 17, at
Brown's Chapel/Lake Newport, in Reston. The walk will begin at 7:30 a.m.
