Thursday evening, while conducting a breeding bird survey as part of the
Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy Bird Atlas I found a Alder Flycatcher in
Northern Loudoun County along Rte 15. First I saw the bird on Sunday and
again last Thursday evening. I managed to take several videos from the bird

http://gis.waterborne-env.com/lwc1/Photos.aspx). The bird was found in an
brushy area along St Clair Lane just off Rte 15 north of Lucketts. From Rte
15 turn onto St Clair, drive approx 150-200yard until you see a gravel road
named Small Island Lane. Stop and park along the road just past the gravel
lane and listen for the bird. It was very active and it was easy to see from
the rd.
In addition to the Alder, I saw Yellow-breasted Chat, Orchard Oriole, Indio
Bunting, Common Yellowthroat and various other species. The stop was very
enjoyable.
