This afternoon about 3 pm, Ruth Beck and I observed a single American Avocet in
the water down at the Wise Point Boat Launch area at the end of Ramp Road.
Other birds in the area: 83 Willets (Western) Herring Gulls, Ring Bill Gulls.
An immature Little Blue Heron was in the pond on the left side of Ramp Road.
Yellow-rumped Warblers are EVERYWHERE!
We spent some time at the Songbird Banding Station this morning. Highlights
include a Hooded Warbler, Brown Creeper, Cape May Warbler, and Song Sparrow.
Photo of Hooded Warbler posted on CVWO Facebook page and VSO Facebook page:

On the way home, we pulled off on the right overlook just before CBBT and
observed dozens of Monarch butterflies on the Goldenrod just below the railing.
Stunning. At least one had a white tag on it!
In other words, GET TO THE EASTERN SHORE!! Wildlife watching is great over
there.
