I was surprised to see a redstart (perhaps first year male) this morning. I
think it was part of a small flock that made a quick stop and then continued
south. I have not seen many warblers at Accotink - just northern parula,
pine, yellow rumped, and palm and those later in the season.

Other species were not numerous: rough -winged and barn swallows, numerous
osprey, a distant bald eagle, laughing and ring-billed gulls, Caspian tern,
mallards, orchard oriole, and blue-gray gnatcatchers. Egret and heron
numbers were low as the water level was higher.
