VA Birders,
I visited Mill Creek, Stonehouse, and Thrashers lakes in Amherst County
today. I did not find the Common Goldeneye reported yesterday by Mark
Johnson as I'd hoped, but there were a few ducks on the lakes, including
Buffleheads at Mill Creek and Thrashers, and Green-winged Teal and Gadwall
at Stonehouse. The most interesting bird, though, was an apparent Cackling
Goose with the flock of 250 or so Canadas on the upper end of Thrashers.
