Hello All,
After reading all the pipit reports, I thought I would take the dog for a
walk and look more closely at the places where I see robins flocking around
Huntsman Lake, in Springfield, VA. My hunch paid off.
I finished my walk thinking that I would have to go to Chantilly if I wanted
to see some pipits this year, but as I was leaving the park I noticed a
couple of robins. This was nothing interesting, but without my binoculars I
noticed what I thought were up turned leaves. I almost didnt want to take
the effort to raise my binoculars, but I did. Yep, it was a pipit, in fact
there were seven other pipits all huddled and working a wet spot in a field.
Just goes to show you to look a little harder in the next few weeks if you
want to spot them, the short list follows:
