Same two bald eagles that killed the Great Blue on Wednesday returned to a
powerline perch on the dam road between lakes 2 & 3. At 4:15 our second,
and remaining, resident Great Blue came cruising from the 2nd lake into the
cove of the 3rd lake. It sat peacefully for about a 1/4 hour until the
eagles left their perch flying up into the cove and made an attack at the
Great Blue. It let out a horrendous squawk and flew back to the 2nd lake.
The eagles quickly landed a mere 10-15 feet above the water and remained
til nightfall and the Great Blue survived another day. Interestingly, 14
hoodies and 1 male kingfisher were within feet of the heron.
