This is a late report on birding I did as part of an effort by volunteers to
survey the Central Piedmont Important Bird Area. This state forest straddles
the Appomattox and Buckingham County line, and is just north of Holiday Lake
State Park in Appomattox County, 11 miles ENE of the city of Appomattox.
Highlights were the Red-headed Woodpecker at the State Forest Headquarters on
Route 636, and an Osprey passing through.
