I had a pair of Baltimore Orioles at my feeders all last winter. Toward late March, the male disappeared. She stayed until the end of April. I assumed he was a victim of cat predation. This morning I looked out at the feeders and there was the female. No male yet, but I'm hoping she found another mate, or that he did survive and will be along shortly. He was here for nearly a month last year, before she showed up. So maybe he is just late. I was so happy to see her. It must be my homemade suet, although she is chowing down on sunflower seeds as well. My only problem is the resident Cooper's, but as long as I keep my flock of Jays supplied with peanuts, they act as an early warning system.
I've tried removing the feeders for a few days, hoping he would move on, but he hasn't.
At any rate, I hope I will be hosting Orioles again this winter..
Happy birding
