Hi! :)
Dropped by Dyke Marsh late yesterday evening (arrived around 740p) to try
and see if I could spot either of the Screech Owls. Unfortunately, no luck.
Bummer!
I did however, hear a couple of single deep and short "Hoots" in the
distance (wasn't sure if it was a man's dog that I passed on the path when
I first heard it) then, next thing I know, I saw something large flying
through the wooded area! It ended up stopping and perching on a tree branch
right above me (maybe 15-20 feet?) and stayed for just a minute or
two, then headed across the path and into the other side of the wooded area
that is next to the bike trail/road. From there I lost sight of it since it
was so dark and it had just started storming heavily. Sighting was at 8p.
Here is a link to one of the photos I managed to get. (Please... No grief
about the flash. Was fumbling in my backpack for my camera and didn't
realize I had camera set on "Auto". Flash was completely unintentional.
Would not have normally tried to use a flash. Hope the poor thing's eyes
were okay.)
