Greetings Virginia Birders,
Birding the lower Eastern Shore of Virginia in mid-October can be a thrilling
adventure as you marvel at the raptors migrating over the Kiptopeke Hawkwatch
and delight in the warblers refueling on the Devil’s Walking Sticks for the
rest of their journey south.
Join Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory the weekend of October 13-15, 2017
for a small group, guided birding experience (limited to 12) to several public
hot spots – including Kiptopeke State Park and the Eastern Shore National
Wildlife Refuge – as well as several areas not open to the public such as Eyre
Hall, Pickett’s Harbor, or Glebe Farm.
You’ll enjoy a private hawkwatch presentation, free access to Kiptopeke State
Park, personalized birding field trips and presentations with experts. PLUS
Saturday evening will feature a fun social time with a short tutorial/program
about migration followed by an owl prowl. Your weekend will include lodging for
Friday and Saturday nights at one of the Kiptopeke Lodges and light breakfasts.
Field trips and presentations will be provided by CVWO President Brian Taber,
and vice-President Dave Youker, as well as CVWO members, Bill Akers and Jerry
Via. All birding levels are welcome. Adults 18 and over.
Fee: $250 per person; $350 per couple. Fee includes 2 nights at the Kiptopeke
Lodge (shared room for singles), all guided field trips, presentations, owl
prowl, and light breakfasts. Make check payable to CVWO and mail to CVWO, PO
Box 764, Lightfoot, VA 23090. CVWO is a 501(c) 3. As such, depending on the
level of participation, some of your fee will be tax deductible. We will let
you know the percentage following the birding weekend.
Register: Register by October 2. Email: CVWO Secretary Shirley Devan. –
<>sedevan52@xxxxxxx <mailto:sedevan52@xxxxxxx> with your name(s), address, and

Fee: Full refund will be provided if cancellation is before October 9. If bad
weather such as a hurricane or tropical storm forces cancellation of the
weekend, CVWO will issue a full refund.
Meals: On your own with the exception of breakfast provided by CVWO each
morning at a lodge at Kiptopeke State Park. We will provide a list of area
accommodations/restaurants when you register if you need one. CVWO will provide
