VA Birders,
While digging out a stump this morning I was taking note of all the birds
that were going into and out of the large wild cherry tree that stands at
the edge of our yard next to the woods.
The cherries are ripe and there was constant avian traffic. Small flocks of
Cedar Waxwings flew in to feed. Robins were constantly going and coming.
Eastern Bluebirds were eating their share. Catbirds, Cardinals, Brown
Thrashers and one Blue Jay were seen eating from time to time.
Meanwhile, in other parts of the yard, the family of Eastern Towhees was
busy under the seed feeder. Red-bellied Woodpeckers, both adults and young
were making regular visits to the peanut butter suet blocks. The resident
White-eyed Vireo was calling from an apple tree, and a Yellow Warbler was
busy searching the branches of the large Red Cedar for insects.
When I have to do some hard work it's nice having company.
