Hey all, I was traveling through the area so I made an all too brief swing
through Chincoteague NWR this afternoon; I spent a couple hours checking Swans
Cove Pool, scoping the Ocean, and doing the Wildlife Loop. Alot of the
expected dabbling ducks, with most variety at Swans Cove Pool, although I
estimated 825 Green-winged Teal and these were mostly in Black Duck Pool and
Snow Goose Pool. The close birds I scanned for Eurasian Teal, no luck there.
Highlights for me included the Black-headed Gull foraging and resting in Swans
Cove Pool just off the entrance road in close proximity to a Bonaparte's Gull,
50+ Marbled Godwits in Swans Cove Pool, and 1 Common Yellowthroat along the
Wildlife Loop.
I wanted to stick around and visit Saxis to see what was happening at dusk, but
I had a ways to go, gotta leave something for next time..
