Hello all,
We had a very successful trip to Thompson Wildlife Management
Area .Today's walk was sponsored by the Audubon Society of Northern
Virginia. We parked at the Trillium Parking area and walked the fire
road to the Appalachian Trail, headed up the trail to the Native
Plant Society Trail and back to the parking area. Lots of birds
singing and flying around. Also, lots of butterfly species as well.

Hairy Woodpecker--male and female feeding young.

Acadian Flycatcher--H
Red-eyed Vireo

Black-throated Blue Warbler--H
Blackpol Warblerl--at least one at Thompson; one in our backyard
about 20 minutes after we got home.

Worm-eating Warbler--perched in the open and singing.
Ovenbird--great looks at one perched on a bare limb.

Scarlet Tanager--male and female

Rose-breasted Grosbeak--male and female; observed female working on a
nest.
