Hello Birders,
With the potential of 3 state ticks I made the chase to Chincoteague this
morning. I was able to connect with the Black-tailed Godwit and got decent
views in front of the visitor center at Toms Cove. I was not able to locate
the Black-headed Gull or Eurasian Wigeon (but didn't venture out to the
wildlife loop).
I did find a male "Eurasian" Green-winged Teal in the Black Duck Pool. It
exhibited the broad horizontal stripe on mantle edges, and lack of vertical
white stripe on fore flanks. The head pattern also appeared more distinct /
contrasty. Watched for about 5-10 minutes before Bald Eagle put the flock
up. Poor record shot below.

In driving rain, the Pacific Loon was still present at Sherwood Lakes, VA
Beach with accompanying Common Loons.
