Made the trek to Chincoteague this morning to catch the Black-tailed
Godwit. I arrived at Tom's Cove boardwalk at 8:30 right at low tide and found
the Black-tailed feeding along with the Marbled Godwits, Willets and Dunlin.
I watched it feed and fly to different areas of the mudflats for about 45
minutes. It was almost always next to several Marbled Godwits which
allowed for great comparisons. I then went across the road to Swan's Cove and
found the Piping Plover and American Avocet. It took me a little longer to
find the Eurasian Wigeon, as it was located along the Wildlife Trail in
Black Duck Pool. A great day observing some really nice species.
