All,
I spent about 1.5 at Blandy this afternoon. I arrived ~3:00 shortly before
the snow and sleet started to fall.
I didn't locate the warbler BYWA . I saw only one other birder there and he
had not located the bird either.
I did see an immature Red-tail hunting on foot beneath a fir tree. At first
glance I was thinking maybe it will be a Gos. I have read accounts of Goshawks
hunting on the ground. However, it was a Red-tail. It was kind of funny
looking on the ground very out of place. The hawk kept pumping the brush and
sticks
with his claws. The bird looked almost like he was doing a dance. When the
dance was over the buteo at the ball came away empty handed. Dinner would have
to be rescheduled.
Other birds noted:
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Brown Creeper.
Unidentified warbler -probably a yellow rumped although another birder had
seen Palms in the same vicinity earlier.
Both Kinglets
