A friend and I birded at Blandy Farm and at Skymeadows state park today. At
Blandy we had numerous Pine Siskins, three at the feeders and many more flying
around and calling in the nearby evergreen trees; nice views.
Sky meadows we found a number of adult White-crowned sparrows at the bottom
of the first hill on the Bridle Trail, just off the parking lot.
Across Route 17 at the Turner pond, we found two Trumpeter Swans. We had
extensive scope of the birds on that small pond, as well as taking definitive
photos. The black on the bill went completely into the eye, there was no
yellow on the face of the birds at all, and the head shape was correct. One of
the birds had a white neck collar bearing the number Z656.
A very nice and very productive day of birding.
