Siskins, Shrike and one Black-capped Chikadee present (chickadee had the
classis hockey stick wings and was letting loose with his chickadeedeedee
call). Only other exotic species present was a carload of distinguished
Maryland interlopers who reported seeing an American Tree Sparrow down in the
wetlands.
Heading south in 17 past Sky Meadows, a Barn Owl was getting an early start and
hunting the field on the left at dusk. Pretty obvious where it must live -
there is an abandoned silo up the hill on Carr Lane. Carr Lane is a public
road, and the silo is on private property right next to the road. Hopefully
this doesn't need to be said, but please don't approach the silo. I'm sure
folks could have a nice show hanging out for a while at dusk and quietly
waiting for the owl to emerge.
Best wishes,
