To all,
I am writing this post not expecting an answer, but perhaps I might get one.
My question is, is there a modern name for the Blue Mountain Warbler? For
those who do not know it is one of America's mysterious warblers. It
supposedly ranged in the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is only one specimen,
which I think is in England somewhere, but the specimen was also located in
CA so it seems as if it moved around a lot. I noticed that Audubon and
Wilson had two different drawings of the same bird. IT could be a
Blackburnian Warbler, but it doesn't make sense. IT looks more like a cross
between Blackburnian and Blue-winged Warblers. I checked with Oxford
University and they said they had no such name in their ornithological
texts, so the name might have changed which is why I wrote this. Also if
someone knows the whereabouts to this specimen please let me know so I can
get in touch with the right people.
