My apologies for the late posting.
Twenty-one people showed up for the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy's regular
monthly bird walk at the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship in
northwestern Loudoun County yesterday morning, including a class from Millsaps
College (Jackson, MS - Bob Leggett's Alma Mater). We found 71 species of which
the highlights were 2 BROAD-WINGED HAWKS, several YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS, an
ACADIAN FLYCATCHER doing its flutter call, lots of CEDAR WAXWINGS in several
dif. locations, 11 warbler species, including great looks at CERULEAN,
KENTUCKY, & BLUE-WINGED, and GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS in a couple of dif. locations.
The trails at BRCES are usually open to the public 7 days a week from dawn to
dusk - check the BRCES website for dates and times of anything special going on
that would limit access to some part of the Center.
