Hello all
What an evening for Woodcocks ! Seven members of the Augusta Bird Club & 2
birder guests ( one from Northern Va. & Mark Johnson from Lynchburg area )
met up at the Humpback Rocks parking area for the annual displaying of the
Woodcocks . With the day light saving time & a few clouds in the sky the
birds started to peent by 7 : 35 ish . As it got darker the more peenting
& one by one they started to display . At one time up to 24 birds were
either peenting or displaying . There were at least 8 to 10 birds
displaying not at one time but taking turns . The most birds in the air at
one time was 4 to 5 . Other birds heard or seen were as follows
Woodcock -- at least 24

Barred Owl -- 2
Raven -- 1
Am. Crow -- 5
W B Nuthatch -- 1
Pheobe -- 2
Towhee -- 2
Junco -- 5
Cardinal -- 1
