One of the earliest messengers of Spring for me each year is the
arrival of Blue-winged Teal at Greenfield. Today a lone drake was in
with a group of Green-winged Teal. As Allen Larner commented, the ducks
are on the move in the valley, as good numbers of Gadwall and Ring
Necked Duck were complimented with a Redhead and a Canvasback (which
have been hanging around for a while), both Scaup species, and 4 Coots.
Can't be long before the first swallow.
