The four BLACK TERNS were still hanging around Sandy River Reservoir this
evening. They flew up and down the lake skimming the water and sometimes
dove. It looks like three were already in non-breeding plumage and one
still had a lot of black. There were five GREAT EGRETS that could be seen
from the parking area foraging along the far shore. An OSPREY flew overhead
many times catching multiple fish and an adult BALD EAGLE was sitting on a
log at the base of dam with his own meal. The highlight and surprise of the
late afternoon trip was a BLUE-WINGED WARBLER in a mixed feeding flock at
the edge of the parking lot between the entrance gate and the fishing pier.
