I spent an hour this morning at Wilck's Lake in Farmville walking the trail
looking for migrants by concentrating on the area near the marsh. There
were twelve species of warblers present with the highlights being singing
PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS, YELLOW WARBLERS, and one BLUE-WINGED WARBLER that
let out a very faint "buzz-bee" song from the top of a tree. An adult BALD
EAGLE flew over the lake and an ORCHARD ORIOLE sang near the island. Just
as I was about to leave I spotted a couple PALM WARBLERS and a
BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER sang his "zee-zee-zee-zoo-zee" song in the
distance.

I then spent another hour at Sandy River Reservoir where I was rewarded
with a singing OVENBIRD, PRAIRIE WARBLER, and YELLOW-THROATED VIREO. Very
high up above the parking lot, three RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS soared on the air
currents. I also saw two BALD EAGLES, an adult and an immature, and watched
as the adult got repeatedly attacked by one of the few OSPREY present.
