VA BIRDers,
Peter Ross, Jay Keller and myself observed a female Dickcissel carrying food
and then heard and soon saw a juvenile Dickcissel in a short tree. This was
at the Meadowood site previously reported to have a singing Dickcissel in
July.
Other highlights today were immature/female Least Bittern at Quantico Creek
along Possum Point Rd, a Yellow-throated Warbler and Baltimore Oriole along
Possum Pt Rd, a Canada Warbler along Cockpit Pt Rd, Ten American Coots in
Belmont Bay, and an Orchard Oriole at Meadowood. Plus a drive by look at
the Tundra Swan in Hunting Creek Bay in mid-afternoon while I was running an
errand. We tallied about 75 species for a reasonably good day in mid-Aug.
