In spite of the rainy weather, shortly after 11:00 am today (Friday,
October 17) three of us from Lynchburg arrived at the gazebo near the
Visitors Center at Claytor Lake State Park. Five other birders were
already there and had seen the Brown Booby shortly before we arrived.
After about 15 minutes of waiting, the bird returned, flying toward us
from the left (and almost directly over the gazebo). The bird returned
once more during the 45 minutes or so that we were there. Two of the
other birders got some great photos of the Brown Booby.
