At 6pm this evening my wife and I came across a single buff-breasted
sandpiper on the beach at Hughlett Point NAP, in lower Northumberland
County. In the short time we were there we saw only four shorebirds: two
least sandpipers and a semi-palmated sandpiper and the buff-breasted. It was
feeding in the exposed peat tumps at the water's edge at low tide, along the
northern part of the preserve. A similar low tide is predicted for about 7am
tomorrow. Anyone wanting more details is welcomed to call me, 804 435-0351
before 10pm.
