I am happy to report that Jethro Runco has returned as Songbird Bander, for
a 4th year, at the Kiptopeke Songbird Station, for Coastal Virginia Wildlife
Observatory. He is already clearing net lanes and setting up. By September 1,
Zach Smith will be operating the hawk banding program. Zach was hawk counter
for CVWO two years ago and helped at the end of the season last year, with hawk
banding. Sam Stuart will be the hawk watcher at Kiptopeke, also starting by
September 1. By mid-September, David Haynes will be capturing Monarch
butterflies and giving presentations to the public.
The Observatory looks forward to another great season of field research and
public presentations and invites everyone to come and enjoy the migration.
Information will again be posted regularly on the List Serve by our staff.
