All,
I decided to do a little joy birding after the stressful big day last
Saturday and was very pleased with what I saw. Highlights in the 2
hours (3-5) I birded were: total of 9 warbler species, 5 flycatcher
species, Least Flycatcher (first for park (for me)), many Magnolia
Warblers (at least 5) mainly males, Canada Warblers (2) both I believe
were females, an Osprey (Fly over but then circled back, Barn Swallows
(first for flood plain section of the park), Chestnut-sided Warblers
(at least 5), Black-throated Blue Warbler (2), Northern Parula, and
Acadian Flycatcher. Also, I believe this is the most birds I have
gotten in an after school walk before (38), the most warblers (9), and
the most flycatchers (5).
Enjoy those later migrants,
Nick Newberry
