Weather:
Mostly sunny initially with clouds gradually moving in from the south to
give mostly cloudy then partly cloudy by late afternoon, NE 3-8 mph
switching to ESE/SE the last few hours.70 to 77 degrees F.
Raptor Observations:
An enjoyable flight with low morning birds staying close to the ridge, and
as the altitude of flight increased the birds were still seen relatively
close, with the flight path a mixture of both sides of the ridge. A steady
flight that surprised with a late end of the day flight between 5:15-5:30
EDT as a steady stream of birds poured down the east side of the ridge
relatively close, though still with considerable altitude. Hourly BW
count: 17, 156, 734, 390, 206, 923, 254, 898.
Non-raptor Observations:
Common Nighthawk - 4 the last few minutes of the count.
RH Woodpecker - 2
RB Nuthatch - 1
Blue Jay - 272
Predictions:
The strong end of the day flight again bodes well for tomorrow. Perhaps
mostly cloudy turning partly cloudy, high mid 70s. NE turning to SE light
breeze. Nice conditions again for counting whatever comes by.
