At my place in Shenandoah County, a Cape May Warbler has taken over
our hummingbird feeder and is driving the hummers away when they try
to have a turn at the feeder. He has even taken over the nearby lilac
bush and terrorizes the various goldfinches, chickadees, and titmice
that try to come to the sunflower seed feeder that hangs from the same
pole as the nectar feeder. The warbler appears to be a fall adult
male based on the Dunn and Garrett book (I don't have my Sibley with
me), and while he is quite gorgeous, I feel sorry for the other
birds. I may have to separate the feeders and/or hang a second nectar
feeder. Unfortunately, I don't have a camera, so can't share the image.
